The cool autumn chill spread through a house, a body writhing in the constricting bedsheets wrapped around her body.  Melissa was having a nightmare...The phrase echoing around her head through her dreams...

I didn't mean to...

All she wanted to do was protect Rex...Her Rex.  Loverboy. It wasn't her fault she found him first...She had to.  His father was horrible to him...Letting Tarantulas crawl all over his body.  his bare flesh taunt under the crawling of eight legs.

Even now the thought caused a slight tremor to slide through her body.  Glancing at the clock, 11:45, she stood up, getting dressed.  She had to get rid of this gnawing sensation.  Rushing out the door, fifteen minutes to blue time, she got in her rusty truck and drove over to his house.  The whole way thoughts of Bixby assaulting her mind, unable to block them out.

Opening the door, she walked past his father staring blankly at the screen, a twinge of guilt in her stomach, and into the all too familiar room.

As the blond snapped up, she could taste the surprise of her being there.  It wasn't preplanned in any way.  "Hi..."  She said, dropping the facade, reaching over and grasping his hand.

Melissa shuddered, the sensation of melding together sliding through her body.  All of her pain slid over to him.  She could taste the slight discomfort coming from him.  "Rex..." She started, but realized she couldn't say anymore.  Seeming to understand he drew her close, pressing their lips together.

"It's alright." Rex murmured, it hadn't been her fault.  They were kids.   They didn't know what they were doing or how to control it.  Stiffening slightly at the sudden touch from Rex, she felt her waist being encircled as he pulled her closer.

Another shudder, this time through everything as midnight overtook them.  Melissa looked up, Loverboy was outlined in blue, the familiar silence as the rest of the world stopped invading her mind.

Blessed silence.

"Listen...Loverboy..."  She began, but was once again cut off, his lips on her's.   "Can't we just have once midnight...without slithers...darklings...or the others...?"  He asked, his eyes flashing violet in the moon.

A soft sigh escaped her lips as she looked up at him, nodding as she rested against him.  It had been so long since it was just the two of them...in silence.   To tell the truth, she missed it.  She really did.  with a soft smile, she slid against his body, no fear of being caught.  After all, his father wouldn't be able to comprehend it anyways.

If he could move anyways.

However, feeling the familiar pulse beneath her, Melissa decided that maybe...couples weren't so silly.  Sure she could still taste Dess...soldering something by the taste. And Jess and Flyboy were in coupleville on top of the mobile sign...

So it was just Rex and Melissa...in silence.  no one trying to kill anyone, the slithers were in hiding for once.  At any other time it would have been boring. This time however, it was a nice break.  Just...being held after years of flinching at his touch...this was nice.

And then she felt him kiss her again, that electrifying shiver wracking through her body.  But quite frankly, she liked it.  After a moment, she pulled away, looking up at him again.  It was rather nice just sitting and not talking about darklings...or the lore...or flame-bringer Jessica.  Or flyboy.

Soon enough,  midnight ended.  But instead of letting Melissa go, Rex pulled her closer, dropping a kiss on her forehead.

"Just stay with me....one more night.."

And she did.

It's a very good story, but I'd add more detail and take out all of the "..."s. It seems as if you're using them instead of commas or periods.
