It had been about nine or ten years since he had met her. Melissa...running down the streets in her cowgirl pajamas. Just to meet...him the one other person like herself that she could taste. It wasn't exactly tasting...it was like feeling something familiar in your head and able to taste from memory...except they're new for her. But that midnight hour Melissa came to Rex's house just so she wasn't so alone.
La la la la la la
La la la la la la
Ever since that day Rex made sure she was never alone. He was always there walking next to her in the hallway. The guiding arm when she's "tasting" the air, and when she's blocking out the school to keep the waves away from her head. The constant burst of conversations she could never respond to.
Not that it bothered him, exactly, that his best friend could hear his thoughts as fast as he thought them. In fact it was rather nice. After all, half the time he didn't have to say anything because of it. Especially since they began touching.
My Cherie Amour, lovely as a summer's day
My Cherie Amour, distant as the Milky Way
My Cherie Amour, pretty little one that I adore
You're the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine
Strangely enough however, he couldn't keep his thoughts focused lately. Especially when they were together. But god...she was beautiful. He couldn't help those thoughts. And they never left. The closer she got, the worse they got. But that was only if she got closer. Melissa was distant by nature. It helped protect her from unwanted feelings invading her. More so to the rest of the group than him, but she was still so far it almost hurt.
But that didn't mean he didn't want her. Rex had to admit, it had taken a while to realize it, but he did. There was just something about Melissa...something he couldn't help. It attracted him like a magnet. The attraction was so strong he couldn't pull away. But unfortunately, Melissa didn't want him...after all, if she did she would have acted on it by now.
In a cafe or sometimes on a crowded street
I've been near you, but you never notice me
My Cherie Amour, won't you tell me how could you ignore
That behind that little smile I wore
How I wish that you were mine
It seemed no matter where they went, they were always together. As Dess always lovingly pointed out. Not that it mattered. They were together, but just as friends. Granted they were best friends, but that didn't help when Rex wanted something more. And there was a small part of him hoping she wanted something more as well...
And it wasn't that Rex didn't try to hide his feelings. He tried to keep them in the back of his mind, putting a smile over his face while they were teasing, trying not to steal glances as she peels off the jacket over her dress. But he was in high school. It wasn't like his hormones were completely in check. But that was probably why she didn't get too close, unfortunately for him.
Maybe someday you'll see my face among the crowd
Maybe someday I'll share your little distant cloud
Oh, Cherie Amour, pretty little one that I adore
You're the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine
Maybe someday she'd give in to him...and hopefully her feelings. After all....Melissa had been his friend for so long...they knew practically everything, even without her mind casting abilities. That just brought their reunion a lot sooner. In a way, they depended on each other because they were the only ones who understood the other. Rex could understand her pain, and was able to protect her.
In a way, though Melissa was commonly thought of as insane, she kept him sane. After all, she had rescued him from his father...and really, from his loneliness. After so many years of being alone, both of them welcomed the sudden intrusion of the other. It was a breath of fresh air in the stifling silence of the midnight hour.

Which brings us to the current midnight hour. After musing this, the song playing as background music in his mind, he felt a gloved hand touch his shoulder. Looking up he saw Melissa. "You're early cowgirl." He grinned slightly, looking over at the clock. 11:53.
With a shrug the girl sat down on the seer's bed, looking up at him, tasting the confusion and finally a sharp taste of decision. With a blink she felt the soft lips press to her's. It wasn't a tumble of emotion, she noticed, he was sending calming thoughts and feelings. Which was appreciated, since she couldn't really think of anything else. Closing her eyes she responded to the kiss before pulling away.

Maximum rap
Fang isn't gangster, he's FANGster. Rap the following to the beat of "Baby Got back"
Nudge: Oh my god, Angel, look at her wings.
Angel: She looks like one of those emo guys' girlfriends.
Nudge: But you know, who understands those emo kids?
Angel: They only talk to her because she's a total avian, 'kay?
Fang: I like big wings and I cannot lie! You mini-wingers can't deny.
When a girl walks in with an itty-bitty waist and the feathers in you face you get slammed!
wanna fly away cause you notice those wings were fluffed
In the leather jacket she's wearing, I'm hooked and I can't stop starin
Oh Max, girl, I wanna go kiss ya, and take a

Someone knocked softly at my door while I was thinking, lying still on my bed. Any flock-outsider who had seen me would have thought I was sleeping, but Maximum Ride doesnt take napsat least not usually. My eyes opened and they traveled across the room to focus on the door.
Come in, I said quietly.
The door opened to reveal Fang standing there, wearing his jacket. His dark hair was now a little bit longer. It reached the middle part of his neck. I then realized I was staring at him. He smiled unexpectedly and came inside. I sat up, hoping he wouldnt make fun of me. But then I got the feeling that hed also

The Towel Incident (Could Iggy possibly be JEALOUS?!)
Iggy: *Walks up to Max and Fang, all angry like* Oh, so you let him see you in that towel, eh? Well, I'm freaking blind as a bat and you wouldn't let me in that bathroom, and I to GO! Freaking BAD!
Max: Uh...Iggy--? (Fang is snickering quite loudly)
Iggy: BUT NOOOO! But your little boyfriend here is allowed to see you scarf naked all he wants, ain't that right?!
Max: T.T; (Fang is LHAO)
Iggy: And you're probably PREGNANT right now; LIKE WE NEED A FREAKING BABY TO TOTE AROUND WITH US WHEREVER WE GO! I mean, COME ON, Max! You're our leader! You should have more freaking sense than what
